The Speed Test is completely free for basic testing. There's no limit to how many tests you can conduct and there's absolutely no obligation to register for continued use of the test. However, some features are only available after registering. Registration is just GBP 10 (about US$ 17) and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Unregistered versions are just as accurate and reliable as registered versions, the only difference is the number of features available.

Also, upload testing is not available in the unregistered version of the test due to the server bandwidth it consumes. This is unlocked in the registered version of the test.
